On Friday 7th March The Gallery takes a step back in time to bring you Clockwork Orange’s 15th Birthday at Turnmills. The London/Ibiza club night was as cult a movement as the film of the same name, and in promoters Andy Manston and Danny Gould, they had two larger than life characters who were “Aving it. Aving it right off” as they say!! To this day, Clockwork Orange remains one of the most talked about and successful clubs to have ever set foot in Ibiza. The Clockwork crew lead the British invasion back in 1994, when they took over Es Paradis, and went onto become something of a global phenomenon. Everyone wanted to play for them. Everyone wanted to be on the guestlist. They were huge. It was the summer of 97, when Clockwork Orange reached the height of its powers. With Sky One screening the infamous Ibiza Uncovered back in Blighty, Danny Gould - in his Clockwork Orange emblazed white van, had become a mini-celebrity and the boys were untouchable. If you went to Ibiza, then you went to Clockwork Orange at Es Paradis. Simple as. Heck, as I write this I remember when I first went out to Ibiza in 98, I made sure that the first thing we did when we landed was buy our Clockwork Orange ticket!! It was the done thing. Back in London… the success was mirrored tenfold. The then Camden Palace was the venue of choice and the guys would have that place rammed and rocking within minutes of opening. Alongside our very own Gallery, it was the place to be seen at in London and stayed that way into the early Noughties. Back on the August Bank Holiday weekend at Turnmills, The Gallery hosted an ‘Ibiza Reunion’ party with Clockwork Orange and it was soooo good that we had to throw one final party with the guys before Turnmills closed. The 15th birthday seemed like the perfect night. Honestly… it’ll be like Friends Reunited in there; only with loud music and a wonky jaw!!

The line-up features just about every major Clockwork DJ from yesteryear with Boy George making a super-rare appearance behind the decks, following his stand-out show back in August where he was singing Culture Club songs live on the mic!! Joining him will be Clockwork legends Jeremy Healy and John Kelly, plus promoter Andy Manston and Clockwork regular Tom Antenuci. Room 2 meanwhile welcomes more of the biggest names in clubland’s history in the shape of Jon Pleased Wimmin, Mark Moore and Alistair Whitehead, with Chris Lloyd on the warm up. Then over in Room 3, Clockwork hands over the reins to Paul Taylor and his Retro club night, so expect every major classic track ever made to be played on the night... it ain’t called Retro fur nothing!!! Finally, the Clockwork Orange Residents will be funking it up in the Topfloor room upstairs as Danny Clockwork, Steve Diamond, Richard M and Tony Nichollas lay down the beats.

With the imminent closure of Turnmills and the special bond between The Gallery and Clockwork Orange, it’s unlikely that an event of this kind will ever happen again. So if you wanna rekindle an old romance on the dancefloor, relive those tunes of that wonderful era or simply come and celebrate a significant birthday of one of the world’s most iconic club brands… then come on down and enjoy the party!! The magic of Clockwork Orange lives on. Come and ‘Ave it’ for yourself!!
